Do you often feel drowned in doubts, negative thoughts, stress and anxiety, hesitating every decision you need to take? And once you do, you keep thinking if you made the right choice?
Yep, I’ve been there. In that awkward place. You don’t know what to do, you’re powerless to move forward.. or even to step back. You ask yourself 100000 questions, imagine millions of scenarios. You don’t even have the courage to ask a friend for help, or you ask for advice to way too many friends which make you hesitate even more.
Freeing ourselves from overthinking is not easy, and it is a situation that you will always have to face. You learn with time how to control your emotions, and how to push back all the negative vibes.
First of all, you absolutely need to keep your mind busy. Convince yourself there is no time to overthink in your agenda. Being a couch potato does not help. Keep yourself busy, clean the house, go for a walk, call friends, talk about something else, plan ahead your days. Force yourself not to think about it.
People around you will always make you hesitate. You will always receive ‘free’ advices (read unwanted!), but at the end of the day, the best person who takes care of you and knows what you need is YOU. Don’t live on other’s opinions, hear what they have to say and it’s up to you to do what suits you. Forget their judgements and move on. Every person is unique and has a different story. Some people also just like to hurt for free. Smile at them, don’t let it get to you and keep going.
Beat your fears. Challenge yourself. Yes the first steps will be super hard. With continuous efforts and persistance, you will succeed. It takes time and effort but believe me, it is not impossible to do. Sometimes when I’m not sure what to do, I play this small exercise. I set myself a short timeframe to take a decision. Once taken, I jump to the next situation, there is no way back, we moved forward. It is what it is. If it’s a more important choice, I sleep on it. Next day usually brings a clearer view.
Never hesitate of your choices. Whatever it is, you took an action and that is the most important. If you failed, remember, we learn and grow from our mistakes. No one is perfect. Don’t let the negative thoughts eat your brain.
