The Gratitude List.

We are not perfect—no one is 🫶🏽 We all face challenges in life, and we feel that our own struggles are the hardest. I’m not saying that I’ve had a tough life and probably know better than you; that wouldn’t be right. Like everyone, I had to find my path. I had a dream, but I wasn’t sure where it would lead me. I didn’t have a plan at the beginning, but I knew I had to work for a better life.

In my case, speaking multiple languages fluently (I speak three and am learning a fourth) can sometimes make it difficult to put feelings into words. These are my thoughts on gratitude. This word only became meaningful to me in recent years, even though I’ve been practicing gratitude since I left Panama.

Gratitude to me means:

  • Being thankful for every person who crossed my path and shared their knowledge to help me grow.

  • Showing appreciation to all humans who are going through a great or a tough time.

  • Returning kindness by giving a hand to those who need it when you can.

I am not going to lie. There are times I could have decided to close myself off and stay in my own bubble. But I choose to be the kind of human who you can trust, to treat people with kindness, to be there when you need it, even if I don't get anything in return. That is also what true kindness is about. Sometimes taking risks is what helps you grow, don't always overthink it.

Gratitude has also helped me to focus on the positive sides that had happened in my life. Yes it takes hard work to get where you are and you will go through uncomfortable situations, but when you look back, it makes you feel proud of the result.

I started following the Gratitude List on social media a couple of years ago when I was in need of support and looking for wellbeing, positivity in my life. I have been using the Gratitude List as my journal for the past weeks when I am looking for reflection and clarity. I do have other journals, blank notebooks that I fill in with my thoughts. The difference is that the Gratitude List has brought order to my thoughts and helps me stay centered, being able to see the future, where I am going. Getting inspired with the quotes, and filling in the blanks. A true space to for self reflection, gratitude and growth.10 minutes a day.
